Big Bend Elopement

Updated: Mar 15, 2020

If I told you that this couple bare-handed climbed up a vertical rock wall in the middle of the desert in their formal wedding attire without photos would you believe me?

Aspen and Nathan posted in a facebook group looking for a photographer for their Big Bend desert elopement and I reluctantly posted the link to my website among 150 other photographers who wanted this just as bad as I did. By a miracle of God they chose me to join them on their adventure.

April 10th at 2:30pm, the sun is scorching down and the wind is gusting 30 mph on the chihuahua desert in Terlingua, Texas but none of us care. We arrive to the location where they would exchange their vows. We are waiting for Tony, a friend of the couple who would be marrying them. He's in the middle of a guided tour of the national park with two people from Great Britain who, mind you, have never met the bride and groom before but would be attending their wedding impromptu.

The wedding was so simple, so pure, and although, there stood around them a handful of people, it felt as though they were the only two standing at the base of that dried up waterfall. They wrote their vows that morning but the words that were said were a collection of the love they accumulated throughout the time they've been together.

Aspen and Nathan: From their personalities to their wedding, I do not think I've met a more adventurous couple nor a couple more perfect for one another. Long live your love for each other!

Be sure to also watch their elopement trailer!
